The Wall

Todays poem

from klaushelpenstein.minti.com

Foreword:

First written 13/11/1994 edited 14/08/2006

The Wall.

I build this wall,  this wonderful structure, my own personal great wall of China,

There just wasn't another one as glorious, at least not one that I'd ever seen,

I could hide, hide from everyone, knowing I couldn't be seen,

But then one day the wreckers came,

They started to dismantle my wall, brick by brick

Layer by layer,

At first I cried, I hid, ducked lower and lower,

But then they pulled it down so far,

So far, that I just couldn't hide any more,

And then as I looked, looked further and further,

Further than I'd ever looked before,

I found that on the othere side, where once I couldn't see,

was more than loneliness, more than despair,

There was hope and friendship, I even found my true self there,

I found that the rolling hills where brighter,

Brighter than I'd ever thought, the skies bluer,

Life was more fun than ever before,

I found that life's worth living, worth living no matter what,

For now, for ever, no matter what.

Todays thought of the day

We spend most of our lives worrying about irrelevant things, but every now and then a reminder comes along that let's us know just how little things really matter, last week my young nice died suddenly and just made me realise that I should be thankfull for what I have , all my children alive and well, and me as well, may be all the mundane things we worry about don't really mean much, maybe we should just be satisfied and happy that we are alive.

Ode to Elizabeth

Todays poem

Foreword:

I am writing this for my young Niece that tragically passed away last week.

Ode to Elizabeth

Elizabeth the apple in your parents eyes,

Still so young you passed away,

It's tragic, but you leave the world,

With memories good and bad,

With memories of your laughter

Memories of good times, memories of bad times,

Like everyone on earth, your contribution, although short, will always be remembered,

We cannot know when our time is up,

But when it is it's never final,  memories linger,

Memories that will carry you, in the hearts of the one's you touched,

I hadn't seen you for so long and wish I'd known you better,

I hope that where you are right now, you're sharing all that laughter,

The laughter I remember, from several years ago,

The one that will be remembered by everyone that it once touched.

RIP your Uncle Klaus

Today's Thought of the day

We all reach a time, where it's the Autumn of our life where we feel that it's nearing the end, how we view this is up to us, we can lie down and wait for the end, or we can treat it like it is the beginning of a new era a new beginning, when you reach the autumn of your live rest revitalise and then enjoy the many happy years to come the summer of your life.

Autumn time

Todays poem

Title Autumn time,

First written 1994

Edited 3rd July 2006

Summer's gone, Autumn's begun,

Day's are shorter, Nights are longer, skies are grayer,

It's just that little bit colder,

You feel a little older,

Not quiet the way you felt last year,

Bones ache just that little bit more.

It' harder to get out of bed each day,

But then there is the glory,

The spectacle of Autumn colours,

The earthly tones of falling leaves,

Sweetness of the falling rains,

You realise this is not the end,

It's the fanfare for next years revival,

The prelude, which will revitalise,

This earth we live on, for another summers day.

Life's Cycle

Todays poem

Background:

Written 11//8/1994

Edited 27/06/2006

Title Life's Cycle

Rustling leaves as they are blown,

By winds upon the ground

Remind me that not everything,

That's dead has lost it's purpose,

The leaves will mulch, provide the ground,

With food that it requires,

Which then in turn will feed the trees,

From whence the leaves have come,

The trees then have the strength again,

To grow a new lot of leaves

Which then convert our atmosphere,

So that we all might breathe,

The air that's all around us,

And then next year it'll start again,

This wondrous, wondrous cycle,

I wonder who or what it was, that designed this wondrous cycle,

This wondrous Cycle of life.

Klaus's Thought of the day

A great man once said----------?

Well most thoughts of the day start of with a great man once said, i don't believe in a great man being someone who has money wealth or education, I believe that every human being is great in their own way, this thought of the day is mine and inspired by the poem i published here today:

No matter how bad things are, never give up hope, for when you loose hope everything will be lost for sure, remember your destiny is to be great at what ever it may be, plan for tomorrow even if you see no hope, plan a small step everday, carry it out and you will slowly reap the rewards

The Man

Todays poem

Background originally written in february 1994 revised tday, after meeting a stranger, this is true of both me and him.

Title The Man,

His clothes where tattered, his bottom teeth nearly all gone,

He begged me, He begged me for a dollar or two,

A dollar or two, so that he could eat,

To most he would have been a Bum,

The type you didn't want to know, to be shunned avoided at all cost,

To me however he was just a man, another human being,

Someone that deserved and needed help,

But then I had an advantage over many,

One that he and many that know me, will never know,

I'd been there, where he was right now,

I'd walked the streets, scoured the bins, picked up butts to smoke,

Lived in my car, for 18 months or so,

And when I saw him, there stood I,

My mirror image, but for luck,

I remembered, the hunger, the loneliness, the shame,

The cold, the sneers from passers by,

The questions by the boys in blue,

The searches of my car, It all came back to me,

And I should thank this man, for reminding me,

Thaty my problems that I have right now, are nothing,

Nothing by far, compared to what he was going through,

I only hope that this poor man,

Will be as lucky as I am right now, gets another chance,

Before he dies and fades away.

Poem no 1 Lessons of the Storm

Todays poem

Background written by me on the 12th of march 1995

Title: Lessons of the Storm

Crashing waves,

Howling winds,

Drops of rain, Swaying trees,

Listening to the elements,

Lulling and soothing,

Talking to me,

Soothing my mind,

Soothing my sole,

Reminding me, of basic things,

Of days gone by, of days to come,

Of the cleansing that the storm will bring,

Of the peace that comes after a howling wind,

For life is like the elements,

Each day is different,

One day it's fine,

The next you howl in pain,

Lessons are learned, as each day goes by,

You wheater the storms of life,

and, as the sun sets every day,

You're richer, for yet once again, you've survived,

Learned a lesson of life,

Treasure it, remember it, let it be your guide,

For now for ever and for everyday.
