Teen Beauty Modeling Contest for L.A Fashion Show
Emerging designers will be among the lineup at Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week during the upcoming Los Angeles Fashion modeling contest Week in October, thanks to a partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs for the city of Los Angeles.Together, the two modeling contest groups will create a runway show for emerging designers during the Oct. 13–15 run of Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
“Under the leadership of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs is partnering with Downtown L.A. teen modeling Fashion Week to bolster professional fashion events in downtown Los Angeles,” said Olga Garay, executive director, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, in a statement.
We acknowledge the enormous importance of L.A.’s teen modeling design and merchandising industry to the economic vitality of L.A. As a vital part of L.A.’s creative economy, the Department of Cultural Affairs is supporting Downtown L.A. Fashion Week in its effort to identify new and emerging design talent.”
To be considered for the show, candidates must have received their beauty design training in Los Angeles and be able to produce 10 looks. Three emerging designers will be chosen by a selection committee that includes “Project Runway” third-season winner Jeffrey Sebelia, designer and retailer Nony Tochterman of Petro Zillia, designer Louis Verdad and Vanessa Gonzalez, who is currently a contestant on “Launch My Line,” Bravo’s upcoming reality beauty show. The deadline for submissions is Aug 28.

Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week is one of several events planned for Los Angeles Fashion Week, which will kick off on Oct. 9 with Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion show. Other show producers as like Summer Glau and some other supermodels planning to host events are L.A. Fashion Weekend, Muse L.A., BOXeight and Rock Fashion Week.
