Cancer  Update --  Cancer News from  Johns Hopkins :

1. No plastic containers in the microwave

2. No water bottles in the freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in the microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army MedicalCenter as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.  Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.  Recently, Dr.  Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.  He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat.  He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.  Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.  Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.  Cover food with a paper towel instead.  This is an article that should be passed on to anyone important in your life!

Positive Body Image

Every day we are bombarded by hundreds, if not thousands, of airbrushed images of "beauty".  These images have the power to affect how we see our bodies and ourselves.  Check out http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.ca/ and see what they are doing to help women and young girls have a more positive body image.

Sit Down and Eat Something....Anything

Finally I am not the only person in the world that thinks that perhaps our "models" are a tad on the thin side....The world's first ban on overly thin models at a top-level fashion show in Madrid has caused outrage among modeling agencies and raised the prospect of restrictions at other venues

Just think what effect this will have on the industry...

Largest Baby Born

This is unbelievable a 14 pound 13 ounces baby boy was born Tuesday in a U.S. hospital. The mother gave birth by caesarean section. I thought my daughter was big 9 pounds 10 ounces and no caesarean!!  My daughter tells me they are told at school that giving birth is like pushing a watermelon through a straw.

Is There a Vet out There??

OK....I have just finished counting at least 8 different dog treats in my cupboard, as well as an aray of choices for dinners...so why oh why does my dog feel the need to suplement a well-balanced dog diet with racoon poop??  I just don't understand!  It certainly does not help her breath (cripes not even breath busters helps with that), it is definitely not lady-like (if i keep telling her she's a lady will she eventually "get it"), and it's downright disgusting! Not to mention, I am sure the disease factor is chart breaking!! I am at a loss...

Blog On....

Let the games begin!  Kim and I decided to start our own Blog...seems everyone is doing it! And we wanted a slice of the action.  Monday morning and we are sitting at a very hot Open House in a new area of Oakville.  While listening to the reverberating sounds of jackhammers and dump trucks, we thought we might as well start a blog.  Life as a Realtor is never boring...throw in husbands, kids and dogs and you have a couple of crazy lives.
